About Us

Centre for Rural Studies and Development (CRSD) was started as a small voluntary organisation in 1991 to work in one of the most backward areas of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh which is identified as severe drought-affected area after Rajasthan. The CRSD initiators, Rani and Bose, were active in civil society movements in the region which focused on organising agricultural labour, women and Dalits with people’s participation, sustainable development, and non-discrimination as core values of their development initiatives.

CRSD is a field based voluntary organisation that works in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. (CRSD works at two levels – Directly in the field, and at the state level through alliances and networks with other CSOs.

Legal Status

  • Registerd under Societies Act of 1860 with registration no.308/91 dated 07-10-1991.
  • The Society is also registered under the FCRA Registration Act,1976 with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
